Fear can be a terrible burden to bear. It can incapacitate us and render our lives virtually stagnate. Don't let your fears stop you from serving God. Are you afraid? The Psalmist in chapter 121 encourages you to look up to God and His sovereign protection. There have been many people who have believed that they either saw, met, or were protected by angels. There are many times in Scripture when God chose to use His angels to protect or guide individuals. The late Billy Graham wrote a book called, ?Angels? in which he provided no a few anecdotal experiences of people and situations where it was believed that angels were involved in some way. In the early 2000s Michelle Tumes, a popular Christian music artist, even wrote a song in which she recounted for her listeners the times in her life that she believed that angels were sent by God to protect her. Of course, these are testimonies from individuals. Whether or not they were helped by angels remains to be seen but there is something that we can know for a fact and that is that God promises to protect Him, people. James M. Boice: ?Protection by God, under the watchful eye of God, is the dominate idea in this psalm.? Most likely those making their thrice annual pilgrimage to Jerusalem sang this psalm as they traveled. They would be asking God’s protection from thieves and robbers, from wild beasts and accidents. When thousands of people begin moving together, men, women, children, old and young there are many things that can go wrong. Many things can and do ?go wrong? with the Christian as he makes his way through this life under the sun. We must understand this psalm properly; it is not promising that the who trusts in the Lord will never experience danger or harm. He promised that nothing will ever endanger our relationship with Him as our God. Nothing can remove us from His sovereign care. Having trouble understanding the Bible?
